The European Soccer Championship will take place in June 2008 in Vienna and is the sporting event of the year. Since last year Viennas paramedics prepare themselve for this event, the largest in the history of the City of Vienna. At 7 days during the EURO 2008TM there will be matches in Vienna. On 29 June 2008 the final match will be in the Ernst Happel Stadium. Hundreds of media representatives and thousands of fans are expected to come to this soccer celebration.
The „Sanitätsteam Wien“ was charged with the care of the visitors outside the stadium. This applies to both the time during the matches, as well as free period.
The Sanitätsteam is a composite of the four major ambulance organizations in Vienna (Red Cross Vienna, Arbeiter Samariterbund Vienna, Johanniter Unfallhilfe Vienna and Malteser Hospital Dienst Austria), the Vienna Ambulance service - MA70, the Municipal Directorate - group crisis intervention and emergency measures, the Vienna Hospital Association and the Federal army. The officer in charge comes from the Red Cross Vienna.
The Sanitätsteam Wien is well prepared. We look forward to a great soccer festival. We want to guarantee our guests a high level of security and assistance. This allows the EURO 2008 TM to be a feast of positive emotions.

News: Ambulance teams cooperate efficiently
The first match day in Vienna also proved a first real test for the Vienna Medic Team established for UEFA EURO 2008TM. "Deciding to pool ambulance services and locate them at MA 70 - Ambulance and Patient Transport Service - was definitly a good idea," says Peter Hoffelner, head of the Vienna Medic team, taking stock of the first day. The Vienna Hospital Association KAV and the Armed Forces have also been included in the Team to simplify operations and step up efficiency.
Operations in the Fan Zone and surroundings of Ernst-Happel-stadion did not exceed those generally experienced at major events. Better still: "the number of Ambulance and Patient Tranport service operations on the first two UEFA EURO 2008TM days were below average and we hope to stay within the average with Vienna Medic Team operations altogether," says Hoffelner.
